“It” Director To Take On Warner Bros. “Attack On Titan” Film

After bringing nightmares to a whole new generation with his revival of Stephen King’s “It“, director Andy Muschietti is working with Warner Bros. on an adaptation of Attack On Titan, Variety reports.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. closed a deal with Japanese publisher Kodansha on Monday, which had reportedly been in negotiation since at least January 2017. David Heyman (Harry Potter series) is attached to produce alongside Masi Oka (Netflix’s Death Note), and Barbara Muschietti (It).

This will be the third live-action adaptation of the hit manga, and the first produced for western audiences, following the Japanese films Attack On Titan and its follow-up Attack On Titan: End of the World, which are both available on DVD & Blu-ray courtesy of Manga Entertainment.

Kodansha Comics have published Hajime Isayama’s dark fantasy manga in English since 2012, with the 25th volume published in July. The third season of the anime adaptation recently concluded its first half on Crunchyroll, and will resume airing in April 2019. The anime has additionally been re-cut into three recap films, the third of which, Attack On Titan: Roar of Awakening, was released in UK & Irish cinemas earlier this year.
